He achieved a degree in Geography from Christ's College, Cambridge graduating with a double first in 1978. He trained as an accountant with Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) and qualified in 1982, finishing 10th in part 2 and awarded the Walton prize for Financial Management.
He has a privately owned group of businesses that includes a publishing business, Nexus Publishing, a scale up financing business called Nexus Investments Limited, Nexus Pine which manages PINE 2, which invests in educational property and is scaling up to £100m and is the founder of The International Opera Awards.
In addition, his other directorships include: Chairman of Biopharma Credit Plc which invests in the fast-growing science industry, listed on the London Stock Exchange and Chairman of TMT Acquisitions PLC.
